About Me
Community… That’s what it’s all about! If I’ve learned anything, especially over the last few years, it’s the importance of community. It’s what gets me up in the morning and keeps me going on the tough days. So, welcome!
Figure we can’t really build community, if we don’t know a little bit about each other. I so look forward to connecting with all of you via comments on my posts and on social media. In the meantime, here’s what you might want to know about me.
I am a recovering perfectionist and workaholic who spent years teaching and inspiring my students before braving this new world of vulnerability and imperfection.
I am the mother of two children, Rylie and Tanner, both of whom have taught and continue to teach me so much about life. This blog began as a way to process a tragic accident which ultimately took Rylie’s life, but it has become a place where I share my journey as life continues on a different path.
I am married to my soulmate, Ziggy. A man of many talents, not the least of which is challenging me to be the best version of myself. A man who makes me laugh and supports the craziest of ideas that pop into my head.
To really know me, though, you have to understand the draw of a color-coded to-do list (recovering perfectionist might be a little optimistic). You have to be willing to sweat and challenge yourself physically, or at least cheer me on. I’m often found doing something crazy like an Ironman or running everyday for a mile for a year. A sucker for a good podcast, I love to talk about big ideas and what makes people unique. But worry not, I’m equally a sucker for a cheesy romance or Young Adult novel. When I’m not writing, I’m running a non-profit, founded in Rylie’s honor, Rylie’s ARK.
Ultimately though, it’s just important to know that I’m passionate about inspiring others to overcome challenges and connecting through story. I’m passionate about creating authentic community.
